Back to School with InfluenceHer Collective

As much as we hate to admit it, summer is officially over at this point. My friends and I are in the second week of the fall semester and the homework is coming in like there is no tomorrow. Thankfully InfluenceHer Collective and Her Campus have come together to put together the perfect kit to help us start our semester off right!

img_2888

From incredible brands like Almay and High Sierra, these products are sure to help you start your semester off with a bang!

img_2827

Let’s start off this adorable sleep mask. At the end of the day, I want nothing more than to be able to close my eyes and sleep after a long day of class and work. This sleep mask is super cute and perfect for blocking out the distractions so you can rest for another busy day!

img_2840

This lotion by Bliss has such a simple but fresh scent! I love freshening myself up during the day by rubbing some nice smelling lotion on my hands. This lotion is probably my favorite product out of everything I got in this kit!

img_2836

I get so hungry during classes so a snack like these bars is perfect for someone like me! They are also a great healthy alternative to what might otherwise be a very unhealthy snack.

img_2833

In today’s makeup age, we are often very focused on matte lipsticks but I honestly miss the days when we would all wear sparkly lip glosses! These lip glosses by Almay look great on top of a liquid lipstick or by themselves!

img_2831

This backpack is very different from the type that I would normally steer towards but too cute to resist wearing!

img_2899

My biggest concern with backpacks is whether or not they will be able to hold all of my books and folders that I use for my classes in addition to my laptop and anything else I might need on any given day. This backpack has more than enough room for those things!

Summer in Abella Eyewear

I feel like every time I log onto Instagram I see so many ads from online boutiques looking for brand ambassadors. Many of these ambassador programs are very overrated and try to get bloggers to promote their cheaply made products for hardly anything in return. Abella Eyewear is not one of those companies.

It is pouring rain right now and I wish it wasn’t so I could wear my new shades from Abella Eyewear!

img_2598

Abella Eyewear makes sunglasses that look like the glasses made by high-end designer brands but for the fraction of the price! Plus, if you use an ambassador discount code like mine, you get up to 30 percent off!

The style that I am wearing in the photos is called the Astley in the color combination of pink and silver. The lenses are pink and the frames are silver.

Links – Sunglasses/Choker/Top/Bralette/Shorts

As someone who has never been a sunglass person, I can honestly say that these sunglasses are so cute and versatile. They are also very well fitted. I have owned sunglasses in the past that looked good but were very uncomfortable. These are not uncomfortable at all and unlike some sunglasses that look trendy, they actually keep the sun out of my eyes.

P.S. Don’t forget to use my code, LIVI50 to get a discount if you decide to buy a pair!

A Week in Columbus, Georgia

This summer my family and I did something that we hadn’t done in a while. We visited our extended family in Columbus, Georgia for a week. It was seriously so great being able to catch up with everyone!

While we were there we also explored Columbus a bit and checked out some of the local restaurants and shops.

img_2546

At the Plucked Up Chicken, my family and I enjoyed a delicious breakfast and even did an impromptu photo shoot.

img_2549

This place had the cutest art on the wall. I couldn’t help but strike a few poses!

img_2544

This veggie wrap was seriously so good! It is healthy but tastes like the inside of an eggroll! Also, tater tots are one of my favorite foods so I instantly fell in love with the place!

img_2541

And the coffee was some of the best coffee I have ever had! I didn’t even add any cream to it.

img_2574

Even though we didn’t get to go to any local boutiques, we did go to the Peachtree City Mall. I went to Forever 21 as always and made a few purchases.

This top was seriously so cute! I’ve seen tops like this at other stores but for much higher prices, so when I saw that this one only cost 7 dollars I knew I had to have it!

img_2579

Just like with the top, the design of this dress is one that I have seen on many websites and in plenty of boutiques, but for a much higher price. This dress was 10 dollars! So versatile and so comfy!

img_2538

The night before going back, we had dinner at a restaurant called The Black Cow. It was very charming and welcoming, the perfect balance between a sports bar and family restaurant.

I got this delicious salad with mandarin oranges, walnuts, and a homemade sweet and sour dressing. So good!

Getting to explore a town that has seriously grown so much since the last time I went was so fun, and seeing my family that I haven’t seen in literally years was even better. I can’t wait till my family and I are able to go visit again.

My Junior Year in Review

Recently, I finished my junior year of college at Coastal Carolina University! This year was so busy and filled with so many new experiences!

I did something that I never thought I would do which is go through formal recruitment and join a sorority.

I found my home in the best sorority on campus, Tri Sigma!

Discovered my worth and learned about how to run for office at the ElectHer Workshop by the Women and Gender Studies Program!

img_1382

Joined the best brotherhood around with the NU class of the Zeta Xi chapter of Phi Sigma Pi!

Then I sadly had to say goodbye to my sweet big.

And G-Big at Senior Send-On!

This year was filled with many a stressful night in the library and quite a few runs to the class that I was running very late for. This year was also filled with many cookout runs and semi-formals that made raunchy rap lyrics seem not so nasty when you are dancing to them with your closest friends! With the good and the bad, I am so glad I chose Coastal and can’t wait to see what it has in store for me next year!

My Resolutions and Goals for 2018

Hey gang! Happy January! So I know it is a little late for a new year’s resolutions post, but I really wanted to think about my goals for this year and what I want to achieve in 2018.

As I have gotten older, I have begun making more goals than typical “resolutions”. I find that this makes me much more productive and actually help me achieve my goals. I also try to keep them pretty realistic, so not to end up giving up by the beginning of February like a lot of people do.

So, without further ado here are my goals for 2018!

  1. Transition to a vegan diet. – I have actually been a vegetarian for two years. It started as just a bit of challenge to myself. Now, I honestly can’t see myself eating any other way. After watching several documentaries and YouTube videos by many vegan bloggers, I decided to try going vegan. The first time I went vegan it did not go well. The main reason was that I was taking a lot of things out of my diet without replacing them with good vegan alternatives. This time I am much more educated about veganism and how to make sure I am getting all the proper nutrients. While the transition was not easy at first, I honestly feel great! I’ve really enjoyed trying new foods and different vegan alternatives to foods like yogurt and cheese!
  2. Exercise at least once a week. – I know this is such a cliche resolution but this is something I seriously want to do for myself! I actually really enjoy walking and jogging, especially in the summer! This past summer I literally walked at least 2 miles every morning! I just loved listening to my playlists while taking in that warm summer weather! When I came to school I wanted to keep the momentum going but I also wanted to do really well in my classes. Unfortunately, my classes got the best of me. I think I literally went to the gym once that whole semester and I’m pretty sure it was during syllabus week. Now, that I have a much better handle on my studies and how the academic side of Coastal works, I hope to be able to exercise more. There is even a cycling class that goes during The Bachelor! It’s called Cycle Cinema! Hopefully all the drama will distract me from how sore my legs are!
  3. Spend more time with God. – I feel like for Christians this our basic cliche resolution we make every year. As cheesy as it sounds though, I really do want to connect with God more this year. He has shown me so much already recently, even without me sitting down with Him and His Word, I can’t imagine what else I will learn. I know it won’t be easy with my busy schedule but even if I just spend 5 minutes with God that will make so much of a difference!
  4. Have more fun. – This past semester I worked really hard! I wanted to bring my grades up so I could apply for internships this summer. I definitely am glad I put in so much work. Yet, one thing I really feel like I missed out on was the social aspect of college. I am in a sorority but I really pulled back on my involvement in it because of how much time and effort my classes required. I hope to be able to maintain my GPA and also enjoy myself!
  5. Make all A’s and B’s. – I was able to finish last semester with all As and Bs. As hard as it was I was so proud of myself! I know keeping this up won’t be easy but I know that I can do it!

So these are my goals for 2018. As hard as some of these will be the feeling of accomplishment after is honestly so worth it. I would love to read what your goals for 2018 are as well as any blog post requests you all have for me in the comments below!

A Holiday Filled Update

Hi everyone! Happy New Year!I thought I would give you all a bit of an update on where I’ve been! I hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday season spent with your family and friends! I know I certainly did! I had a very busy semester at Coastal so it was nice to be able to just kick my feet up and relax!

Adjusting to a new school is always hard, especially when the school is out of state and bigger than what you are used to. The classes were far from easy but I managed to finish with all As and Bs!

Socially I feel like I am still adapting but I have made some moves in the right direction. I joined a sorority, Tri Sigma. I got a big who honestly is the perfect fit for me. Our sorority is pretty big and to be honest there are still a lot of people I have yet to get to know but hopefully, I will be working on that in 2018. I have also found a great church very close to campus. I’m really glad I was able to find a good church where I can grow my faith away from home!

There aren’t that many people I feel super close to yet but I do feel like I have met some good people and am planning on trying out some new clubs and organizations so that should definitely help!

As I am reflecting on both this past semester and year I am realizing just how much happened! 2017 was a doozy! Some good and some bad but all in all I’m glad made the decisions I made and where they brought me!

I will be posting my goals for 2018 later this week but in the meantime I want you all to tell me what you hope to accomplish in the new year! Thank you all so much for bearing with me during this transitional period in my life! Now that I have the academic part of my life under control I do plan on posting more this year!

Cheers to another great year with you all in 2018!

Coastal Carolina + My College Decision

img_0791As I am typing this blog post I am currently sitting in the Starbucks on the campus of Coastal Carolina University, where I am a new transfer student! I seriously am so excited to start this new journey of mine!

Now, before I get into the present and the specifics of what I have been up to as of now, let’s take a step back to see how I got to where I am now.

When I began my college search, I never thought I would end up at a beautiful beach school in South Carolina! I always knew about Coastal because my family had vacationed near here, in Pawleys Island for years and was always curious about what the school was like. As soon as I stepped onto the campus, I knew this was the place for me! The vibe is relaxed but with great professors!

Hopefully, this will be a good explanation for why I haven’t been posting recently. If you all have any suggestions about college-related blog posts like specific factors that went into my college decision, how to be healthy in college, anything you all want to read!

Planners on Planners on Planners…

I don’t know about you but for me a good planner is a must for staying organized during the school year! I used to be terrible at using them but now I can’t imagine living without one!

I made a compilation of some of my favorites I have used throughout the years as well as the pros and cons of using both! I’m no expert but I have learned a thing or two from trying out quite a few planners!

My Criteria

  • Plenty of space to write
  • Places for check lists, notes, etc.
  • Cute quotes, stickers, etc. to make planning more fun!

Lets’s see how they all stack up!

The Lilly Pulitzer Agenda

Pros –

Out of all the planners I have tried out, the Lilly Pulitzer Agenda is by far my favorite! It meets all of my requirements! Their planners are also super cute! Lilly planners have what surprisingly a lot of planners don’t have which is lined paper. I am someone who has to have lined paper to write well with. Lilly planners also have a great variety of sizes to choose from. I find that the large is the perfect size. It gives you plenty of room to write without being this huge clunky thing that takes up a ton of space in your bag!

The stickers they give you are super cute! I really enjoy using them to decorate my planner and put a mark on important dates. Speaking of important things, Lilly planners all come with a special place for writing down addresses, dates, phone numbers, notes, and even a guide to planning your next vacation!

Despite being made by a pretty high end brand Lilly planners are actually pretty affordable! Especially if you buy them when they are on sale at Barnes and Noble!

Cons –

The main con I can think of is the size but that would only apply if you end up choosing one you don’t like, whether it be too small or too big. I know for me I hate things that are really bulky. So, I tend to stay away from the jumbo sized planners. I honestly feel like they have something for everyone.

There have also been times when I wish they gave us more blank pages for notes. I always find myself jotting down random thoughts I have and ideas I get for future blog posts and articles. Those are honestly the only cons I can think of. I would honestly be such a mess without my Lilly planner!

Day Designer

img_0116img_0117img_0118img_0119img_0120img_0121img_0122.jpgimg_0123
Pros – The biggest pro I would say that the Day Designer has is the many different compartments it has to help you stay organized. I loved using the Top Three section at the top each week. It really helped me prioritize when I was deciding what to work on first at the library or when I had some down time! Another part of this planner that became very useful was the to do lists. This made it so  I also loved the size of the planner! I know that a lot of the more modern Day Designer planners are a lot bigger than mine but even those are pretty light weight wise, compared to other planners!

Cons – As much as I like this planner, the main reason I did not purchase a Day Designer the next year was because of the lack of writing space. Something I have noticed that is very consistent with Day Designer planners is how narrow the paper lines are. I write a lot and need plenty of space to do so! Even if you just look at the pictures above you can see how I was literally squeezing the words into every space there was.

Horacio Printing Planner

Pros – This planner is not nearly as well known as the other planners I have mentioned but is still a very good planner especially for Christian high school and college students! I actually got this planner as a part of my Faith Box subscription; a subscription box service that sends you products every month involved with your Christian faith. The reason I say that this planner is great for Christian students is because of all the sections they have set aside for you to write down things to pray for, what you need to work on with God, and so much more! There is also a different bible verse on each page. Each verse is so encouraging! I honestly looked forward to reading each week’s verse!

Another thing I love about this planner is the durability, this planner spent plenty of time bumping around in my backpack with my books and laptop. There are some scratches but for the most part it held up very well. The design of it is also gorgeous! I’m a sucker for anything gold!

Cons – Just like with the Day Designer, I definitely wish this planner had more writing space. While the design of the pages looks cute it gives you very little space for writing. I also think mini devotions would be a nice addition too. While this planner is great for Christian students I definitely feel like it was built for Christians who are already very invested in their relationship with God. Someone who just recently began their walk with God, might have a harder time using the tools that they are given in this planner.

So those are all the thoughts I have on these 3 planners! I hope this post was helpful to you if you are having trouble deciding on which planner to get for the upcoming school year!

This post is also a collaboration with my good friend and fellow blogger, Ashley, AKA, Michigan Darling! Make sure to check out her post as well! It is amazing as always! She is also super sweet and posts amazing photos!

Back To School With Charles River Apparel

Ah, the back to school season. The fresh new school supplies, reunions with your friends, the freezing cold classrooms… Wait cold classrooms?!

img_0558.jpg

For as far back as I can remember, I have always been the girl who is always cold, especially at school! It’s almost as if there is this secret rule at every school that as soon as it gets even a tiny bit warm they have to blast the AC like there is no tomorrow!

Thankfully I now have my Heather Fleece Pullover to keep me warm all semester long!

When I began working on this collaboration with Charles River Apparel, I knew exactly what product I wanted to promote! This pullover is everything I was hoping for and more!

Pros – The key to this pullover being so warm is that it is literally lined with fleece! So many sweatshirts and pullovers I have tried out have a very polyester fluff esque lining that loses its quality pretty quickly. Because of the thickness of the fleece lining the quality of the product is guaranteed to last for a very long time! I also am really into very fitted clothing right now and this pullover does just that! This style also comes in a wide variety of colors! So, if your school has a strict dress code it shouldn’t be too hard to find one that complies with the rules! There is also plenty of space in the chest area for monogramming or for adding your school’s logo!

Cons – The only con I can think of is the snug fit but that is only if you aren’t really into fitted clothing. I honestly can’t think of any other possible cons for this pullover. I’ve honestly enjoyed wearing it so much!

Make sure to follow me on Instagram because I will actually be doing a giveaway for this very product very soon! I would definitely be entering this giveaway if I didn’t already own it!

Thank you Charles River Apparel for collaborating with me on this post!

With the new school year coming up, I have been planning like crazy for my first apartment! I am definitely the type of girl that will literally drool over home decor porn on Pinterest! Uncommon Goods has everything from gifts for your bridesmaid or groomsman to anniversary gifts for your spouse! They even have gifts that you have bring to your friend’s events like their, weddingbaby shower or bridal shower!

These pieces are so unique and so affordable! A lot of home decor sites carry products that are pretty expensive but not Uncommon Goods. In fact, all of the products featured in this post are under $40! I tried to find products that would go with everyone’s aesthetic regardless of personality and style! I also wanted to find products that would make great gifts for a significant other as well!

State Slate Cheese Boards

  • I thought this cheese board would serve as a great way to serve snacks to friends when they come over to hangout! These cheese boards are the perfect way to show off your state pride and also make your kitchen look extra chic!

Soapstone Ice Cream Scoop

  • As someone who loves to cook and bake I am constantly finding myself using my family’s ice cream scoop! These babies are good for a lot more than just scooping ice cream! I use them to scoop everything from pancake batter and  cookie dough to veggie burger patties! If you are someone who is moving out for the first time and not sure what to buy for your kitchen, I can assure that an ice cream scoop is an absolute must!

In addition to having great items for your kitchen and home, Uncommon Goods also has great gifts for both men and women!

Birth Month Flower Necklace

  • These necklaces are so pretty and the perfect gift for your gal pal or girlfriend’s birthday! I love anything with my zodiac sign, birth stone, or birth sign in it so I of course I had to add it to this post! Knowing me I would probably end up buying one for both my friend and myself!

  • Now for all the men in our lives who have everything but still need that perfect gift for their special day! This barbecue sauce will take their signature wings to the next level!
